In August of 2005, the Lord led Pastor Sam Miles along with several members of the Kansas City Baptist Temple, to begin a satellite service called KCBT (Kansas City Baptist Temple) Midtown in the heart of our city on Sunday evenings at 40th and Walnut.
Our goal was to reproduce a ministry (based on the Word of God and prayer) where Jesus Christ is Lord; with the central idea that "God is worthy to be praised in Midtown." As The Lord led, the service moved to Sunday mornings. It was at that time in the fall of 2006 that God began blessing the outreach with the fruit of transformed lives.
In November of 2007 the Kansas City Baptist Temple commissioned Pastor Miles along with this group of believers to take the next step and start a fully functioning church in midtown Kansas City. This change has enhanced our freedom to act as God directs and at the same time provides the security and anointing of being sent out by a local church. We maintain a close partnership with KCBT, effectively making one church with two campus locations.
As a result, the Midtown Baptist Temple carries on the same vision learned from our sending church: a burden to be a disciple making ministry! That is, to reproduce what the Lord Jesus Christ has produced in us, in other faithful men and women who will do the same, desiring to worship and praise the Lord.
